LONDON: The government said on Monday it will allow the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra to continue in the UK.
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced that it will issue a code to the company to make Viagra available for free on its website.
The code will require the manufacturer to include the information in the price-free coupon, which is the only way to ensure the drug is safe and will be available for patients.
The code will also require customers to provide their personal details, including the name, address and telephone number of the supplier, as well as the country code, to the company.
It said the code is only available on the MHRA's website, which has been in use for more than a year.
Viagra was previously approved for treating erectile dysfunction but has now been approved for other uses.
Viagra will be available at pharmacies as a free, standard medication on its website, including the code, which will run until April 2023.
Dr Graham Jackson, director of regulatory affairs at the MHRA, said: "We've made it clear that we are not making Viagra available on our website without the knowledge and consent of the manufacturer, but rather as a product for the people who rely on it.
